Grimsby 0-3 Crewe
Crewe recorded their first win of the season as they brushed aside Grimsby at Blundell Park to reach the second round of the Carling Cup.

Nicky Maynard gave the visitors the lead when he latched onto a Luke Varney ball to race clear and neatly finish from 12 yards.

Michael O'Connor rifled in a fierce shot home from 18 yards after picking up Varney's ball.

Ryan Lowe scored the third from the penalty spot after Maynard was fouled.
