A superb display of finishing saw Spurs brush League One outfit Oldham aside.

Freddie Kanoute headed in the first from Robbie Keane's corner and after Chris Killen flashed an effort wide Keane made it 2-0 from an acute angle.

Substitute Jermain Defoe finished off a flowing move involving Pedro Mendes and Michael Brown for the third, before Goran Bunjevcevic netted from 12 yards.

Gardner smashed in a beauty from 25 yards and Kanoute completed the rout firing in a 15-yarder for the sixth.

Oldham: Mawson, Holden, Haining, Arber, Griffin, Eyre (Barlow 87), Appleby, Boshell, Eyres, Johnson, Killen (Jack 63).
