Crewe 4-1 Blackpool
Crewe produced a blistering start to dismantle Blackpool and reach the second round of the Carling Cup.

Steve Jones started the rout in the third minute, sweeping the ball home after Dean Ashton's pass.

Ashton was provider for Mark Rivers' ninth-minute strike, then netted himself to make in 3-0 on 12 minutes.

Jones headed his second shortly before the break, while Blackpool grabbed a late consolation goal through prolific striker Scott Taylor.

Crewe: Williams, Billy Jones, Moses, Foster, Tonkin, Lunt, Sorvel (Cochrane 45), Vaughan, Steve Jones, Ashton, Rivers.
