Dunmurry Rec earn a replay in the Irish Cup coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Linfield

Amateur League minnows Dunmurry Rec pulled off a big surprise in the Irish Cup sixth round by holding Premiership champions Linfield to a 1-1 draw.

Cup holders Linfield took the lead in the 24th minute when Curtis Allen flicked a header past Philip Warnock.

However, the underdogs equalised before half-time when central defender Paddy Larkin headed in from Stephen McDonnell's free-kick.

Linfield piled on late pressure but Dunmurry secured their unlikely replay.

"Our plan was to frustrate them," said Dunmurry manager Ivor Moore.

"We went a goal down but we kept on working and got the equaliser just before half-time.

"It is the first goal Paddy has scored for us, believe it or not.

"It was a super ball in and Paddy met it beautifully.

"Philly Warnock made some tremendous saves. We tired a bit and rode our luck but the whole team defended brilliantly."
