Ten-man Crusaders secured a hard-fought victory over league leaders Linfield.

The Crues had Jordan Owens sent-off a minute before half-time when the striker pushed his head into the head of Linfield defender David Armstrong.

Peter Thompson and Curtis Allen went close for Linfield but Stuart Dallas fired in the opener with a right-foot shot into the corner after 70 minutes.

Chris Morrow drilled home a low 30-yard shot on 77 minutes and Robert Garrett rifled in from 20 yards soon after.

Early in the game Alan Blayney pushed a Chris Morrow strike round the post and then referee Stephen Wetherall ruled an Owens header out for offside.

The home side were forced to play the entire second half with 10 men and Thompson headed just past the post for Linfield.

Curtis Allen saw his stinging left-foot volley fly over the bar before Dallas broke the deadlock with his 10th goal of the season against the run of play.

Morrow looked to have made the points safe but Garrett's 80th-minute strike made them sweat for the final 10 minutes.

Crusaders move level on points with second-placed Glentoran while Linfield remain five points clear at the top.

Stephen Baxter's side had recently lost 8-1 to Linfield in the league at Windsor Park.
