Linfield boss David Jeffrey hits out after Crues rout

Linfield beat Crusaders 8-1 at Windsor Park to go four points clear at the top of the Carling Premiership

Linfield manager David Jeffrey has hit out at suggestions that his club are sure to win the Premiership title because of their superior resources.

"I am fed up and sick to the back teeth of people saying that we're going to win it because of our resources," said Jeffrey after beating Crusaders 8-1.

"I can think of several players who were approached by us but declined and chose to join Glentoran instead.

"Yet all we hear is that we are in this position because of our resources."

"Players like Gary Hamilton, Richard Clarke, Andrew Waterworth and Daryl Fordyce chose not to join us.

"It is all about how you use your resources."

Jeffrey added that he was particularly pleased by the performance of his players in the demolition of the Crues.

"The attitude of the players was first class and I pay tribute to them for that.

"We are playing well and with confidence but it is ridiculous to suggest that the league is ours to lose at this stage.

"I have been at Linfield too long to take anything for granted - we are not even out of October yet and we are taking nothing for granted.

"We are working hard and have quality in our team but things can turn very quickly in this game."
