Derry City manager was without several key players

Two goals by Willie John Kiely condemned Derry City to a 2-0 defeat away to Waterford United in Friday night's Airtricity First Division game.

Kiely broke the deadlock three minutes before the interval and added his second of the game in the 66th minute.

The Candystripes were without a number of first team regulars for the fixture against their title rivals.

Derry's lead at the top of the table is now reduced to four points, with Monaghan their closest challengers.

Waterford are six points off the pace in third position.
