Cliftonville forward Liam Boyce is having a pre-season trial with Scottish Premier League giants Celtic.

The 19-year-old, who has previously been linked with moves to major English and Spanish clubs, travelled to Glasgow on Wednesday night.

He was recently named the NI football writers' player of the year.

Boyce is hoping to follow former Dungannon Swifts player Niall McGinn in making the move from part-time football in the Irish League to Parkhead.

He scored 19 goals in his debut season with Cliftonville, helping the Belfast club finish second in the Carling Premiership.

Boyce is considered to be one of the Irish League's most promising young players and Reds boss Eddie Patterson must know he is unlikely to remain at Cliftonville for much longer.
