Crusaders 0-0 Linfield

Linfield are denied the chance of lifting the title at Seaview after being held to a 0-0 draw by Crusaders

Noel Bailie made his 1000th appearance for Linfield but the Blues did not get the win they needed to clinch the Carling Premiership title.

David Jeffrey's men have two matches left and a point would be enough on Tuesday night when they are at home to their closest rivals Cliftonville.

They could have been behind early on when Jordan Owens had a header saved and Colin Coates shot wide.

For Linfield, Peter Thompson's second-half shot clipped the crossbar.

Afterwards, Linfield manager David Jeffrey did not seem too disappointed with the draw.

"Both sides had chances and I think a draw was fair," he said.

"We had three games to get three points. So it is a case of one down and two to go.

Veteran Bailie said: "It is hard to believe I have reached 1000 games.

"I never imagined I would be going on for that length of time. But I hope I am not finished yet.

"I am grateful for the great reception I got today but disappointed we did not get the win."
