Lisburn Distillery's Tommy Wright has won the Carling manager of the month award for March after the bottom club picked up 13 points from a possible 15.

The superb run lifted the Whites off the foot of the Premiership although they have since been overtaken again by fellow strugglers Institute.

"I accept this award on behalf of my team after what has been a terrific month for us," said Wright.

"The boys have grouped together and are going in the right direction."

Former Northern Ireland goalkeeper Wright took over at New Grosvenor in September after the departure of Jimmy Brown.

At that stage, Distillery were eight points adrift at the bottom of the table having just taken one point from a possible 27.

The manager of the month award is run by the Northern Ireland Football Writers' Association.
