Glentoran fined over fan trouble

Glentoran chief Aubry Ralph wants to see troublemakers isolated

Glentoran have called on 'loyal fans' to point out troublemakers at matches after being landed with a £1,250 fine by the Irish Football Association.

The Glens were punished for several incidents of missile throwing.

A heavy metal bolt was thrown on to the pitch during a match at Glenavon while coins, bottles and fireworks were hurled at Linfield's Windsor Park.

"The club cannot sustain the financial hardship caused by these fines," said Glentoran chairman Aubry Ralph.

"I appeal to all genuine fans to identify the culprits to stewards or the police in an attempt to rid our club of the cancer within.

"Further incidents will result in even more punitive fines and the possibility of even further sanctions which the club cannot afford.

"Now is the time for the Glentoran family to close ranks and ensure that we can all enjoy our games without fear and threat of further disciplinary action."
