Leaders Linfield opened up a three-point gap at the top of the Carling Premiership by beating bottom club Lisburn Distillery at Windsor Park.

The Blues took the lead in the 10th minute when defender Kris Lindsay headed in from just a few yards out from Michael Carvill's corner.

Carvill set up the second goal as well with his cross being firmly headed in by Billy Joe Burns on 32 minutes.

Distillery, with just two wins from 17 games, remain five points adrift.

Linfield have now taken 19 points from a possible 21 since their 4-0 defeat by Cliftonville on 21 September.

In the second half some good saves by Whites goalkeeper Philip Matthews stopped Linfield extending their lead.

Burns was denied by the keeper after a good solo run while Matthews did well to fingertip away a curling free-kick by Damien Curran.

Former Linfield hero Glenn Ferguson had two late chances for Distillery.

He headed wide from a good position and then saw a snapshot scooped out by home goalkeeper Stuart Addis.
