Derry City 3-0 Bray

Derry City enjoyed a comfortable win over relegated Bray as Peter Hutton said farewell to the Brandywell fans.

Long-serving City skipper Hutton was playing his final home game as his contract is not being renewed.

Davy McDaid's 18th-minute goal had Derry ahead at the break and Clive Delaney headed number two with Bray's Dave Mulcahy netting an own goal.

However, Derry's hopes of claiming a Europa League place are slim after third-placed Cork City beat Dundalk.

Cork remain three points ahead of Derry with just one round of matches left.

Both teams applauded Hutton on to the pitch on what was an emotional night for the veteran central defender.

McDaid scored his third goal in three games after Thomas Stewart raced down the left to deliver a telling ball from the bye-line.

Earlier Bray almost got a spectacular goal when Derek Pender let fly from 35 yards but home keeper Gerard Doherty dived to push the ball behind for a corner.

Delaney headed Derry's second goal from a James McLean corner in the 55th minute.

Nine minutes later it was 3-0 when Kevin Deery's header was diverted into his own goal by Mulcahy.

The result confirmed Bray's relegation to the First Division.

Bohemians are almost certainly assured of back-to-back Premier titles after they beat Sligo Rovers 3-1 and second-placed Shamrock Rovers were held at home by Galway United.

It means Pat Fenlon's Bohs are three points ahead with a much better goal difference going into the final series of fixtures on 6 November.
