DC arrange Atletico Madrid game

Pat McAllister was appointed as Donegal Celtic manager in May

Atletico Madrid will travel to west Belfast to face Donegal Celtic in a pre-season friendly at Suffolk Road on 4 August.

The La Liga outfit's star performers include former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan and Argentina striker Sergio Aguero.

Atletico have arranged an Irish tour which will include a game against League of Ireland club Dundalk.

Donegal Celtic will unveil their new £1.2m stand at the glamour friendly.

Atletico Madrid's decision to play in west Belfast is a major coup for Donegal Celtic.

Scottish giants Celtic played in a pre-season encounter at Suffolk Road two years ago but Atletico's arrival should guarantee an even bigger occasion.

Atletico have qualified for the coming season's Uefa Champions League.

New DC manager Packie McAllister has made a number of summer signings including Cliftonville striker Stephen O'Neill and former Northern Ireland winger Peter Kennedy.
