Donegal Celtic 2-1 Dungannon S.

Donegal Celtic grab a 2-1 first leg lead over Dungannon Swifts

Donegal Celtic hold the advantage in the Premiership promotion/relegation play-off thanks to Paul McDonald's late goal in the first leg at Suffolk Road.

DC took a ninth minute lead when Swifts keeper Alvin Rouse hit his clearance against Daniel Lyons and the ball rolled back over the line.

Timmy Adamson headed in from close range to equalise on 50 minutes.

Substitute McDonald got on the end of James Lavery's driven cross to tap in the winner with three minutes left.

The west Belfast hosts had the wind and rain at their backs in the first half but they failed to take full advantage.

DC's Liam Watson hit the side-netting after 37 minutes while Swifts midfielder Ryan McIlmoyle was denied by keeper Declan Brown just before the break.

Dungannon drew level after restart with Adamson finishing from a McIlmoyle corner.

DC boss Paddy Kelly made an inspired double substitution with Lavery and McDonald combining for the third goal just after entering the fray.

The Swifts went close in the dying seconds when Rodney McAree's wind assisted free-kick flew just wide.

The second leg at Stangmore Park is on Friday night (1945 BST).
