Jeffrey anger after latest defeat

David Jeffrey
David Jeffrey criticised his senior players after the Windsor Park defeat

Linfield manager David Jeffrey made his disappointment clear after a 3-0 home defeat by Dungannon Swifts condemned the Blues to a fourth straight loss.

"The senior players are making mistakes and I don't know where a goal is going to come from to make up for it.

"I'll stand up and be counted during this run and I'm looking around to see who is beside me.

"It's very frustrating at the minute - we need to buck up our ideas or this is going to be a very long season."

Ryan Mullan, Jamie Tomelty and Marc McCann were on target for Dungannon at Windsor Park in the first leg of the Co-Operative Insurance Cup third round tie.

Jeffrey added: "I have brought several players in, but we need senior players and our better players to perform and that is not happening.

"If you analyse the game, the first goal came after Damien Curran gave away a free needlessly, the second came after Glenn Ferguson lost the ball and William Murphy makes a mistake - and we gave away the ball on the halfway line for the third.

"I keep talking about rebuilding the side but put that to the team totally - the only players that came out of this game with any credit were Michael Carvill and Noel Bailie.

"The mistakes weren't made by our youngest new players, we are talking senior players."
