David Jeffrey has questioned the Setanta Cup's future
Linfield manager David Jeffrey has questioned the future of the Setanta Cup as Irish League clubs struggle to make the last four of the tournament.
"If there are no Irish League clubs in the last four it could be the death knell for the competition," he said.
"We have been proud to do well in the competition and have really been the flagbearers for our League so in one respect it would be disappointing.
"I would like to see it integrated into our season better," added Jeffrey.
"There is the possibility that the semi-finals and final could be played on a Saturday and I am thinking that if that turns out to be the case it could affect our league programme.
"The organisers have tried to solve the problem but the conundrum has not really been solved yet."
