Glentoran win first Sunday game

Glentoran celebration
Gary Hamilton scored the winner for Glentoran

The first Irish League football fixture to be played on a Sunday has been won by Glentoran.

The east Belfast side beat Bangor 1-0 at the Oval thanks to a goal by Gary Hamilton.

About 20 or 30 protesters protested outside the ground over the match being held on a Sunday.

Both clubs agreed the move after the match was unable to be played on Saturday because of a pitch left waterlogged by heavy rain.

An amendment was made to Irish Football Association rules last year to allow Sunday games if both clubs agree.
