Saturday's CIS Cup final between Linfield and Crusaders has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch at Windsor Park.

Referee David Malcolm inspected the ground at 1240 and decided there was no way the big match could go ahead.

League officials will meet on Monday to decide when the match will be played.

"Due to the heavy fixture list over the Christmas period, the match will be played sometime in the new year," said IFA official Craig Stanfield.

Linfield manager David Jeffrey said it was disappointing the big match could not go ahead.

"It is a pity because you prepare all week and it was to be shown live on television," said the Blues boss.

"But when you look at Windsor Park, it really is the right decision.

"The pitch would have been dangerous for players and it would have been farcical for the viewing public."
