Cork won their Uefa Cup first qualifying round tie 2-1 on aggregate despite losing by a single goal at home to FK Ekranas in the second leg.

The Eircom Premier League leaders went down to a 59th minute goal by Arunas Klimavacius but did the groundwork in the first leg in Lithuania.

Klimavicius headed in skipper Mantas Savenas' free-kick although the ball was fumbled by goalkeeper Mark McNulty.

McNulty made amends with a fine save to deny Povilas Luksys on 80 minutes.

George O'Callaghan, John O'Flynn Greg O'Halloran and Liam Kearney had chances for Cork while the visitors also had scoring opportunities.

O'Callaghan was harshly booked for diving by Swiss referee Guido Wildhaber and will miss the second leg.
