Armagh City boss Colin Malone has signed former Dublin City and Limerick City central defender Thomas McGauley.

McGauley played a key role in Dublin's promotion to the Eircom League Premier Division in 2003 but he missed most of the following year through injury.

He returned for a brief spell with Limerick but left the club at the end of the league season.

City hope to have McGauley available for the Nationwide Irish Cup fifth round game away to Linfield.

Club officials are awaiting international clearance and confirmation from the Irish FA.

Meanwhile, Armagh have released Wayne Brown, Davy Munn and Ryan Lawless while striker Andy Brown has been loaned to Banbridge Town.
