Ports chase Sonner

Danny Sonner was released by Nottingham Forest
Portadown are attempting to bring Northern Ireland midfielder Danny Sonner to Shamrock Park.

The 32-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City player was released by Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.

"I got a call out of the blue from Portadown to see if I was interested and now I am waiting for them to come back to me," said Sonner.

Sonner recently had a trial with Kidderminster Harriers.

Meanwhile, Linfield and Glentoran both claimed 4-1 friendly wins on Saturday.

The Blues defeated John Easton's Banbridge Town while Glentoran beat Letterkenny Rovers.
