Lithuania 1-0 Scotland

Lithuania produced their second Euro 2004 shock in five days when a spot-kick from Tomas Razanauskas was enough to beat Scotland in Kaunas.

The Akratitos Athens striker had also been on the scoresheet when the side ranked 106th in the world held Germany to a draw in Nuremberg on Saturday.

And this time he capitalised on a penalty conceded by Jackie McNamara to put the Lithuanians level on points with the Scots and Germans in Group Five.

Scotland dominated the early possession, but they had to wait until the 15th minute to bring goalkeeper Gintaras Stauce into the action.

Don Hutchison headed the ball into the penalty area, Kenny Miller laid the ball back and Lee Wilkie volleyed the ball powerfully from 16 yards but straight into the goalkeeper's arms.

Lithuania gradually came more into the action and Wilkie, who was lucky not to have conceded a penalty against Iceland, was fortunate again after connecting with Edgaras Jankauskas inside the box.

The Porto striker caused more problems when he met a corner swung into the box and his volley from 12 yards was well held on the line by Gallacher.

Scotland started the second half as they had the first and Nerijus Barasa did well to clear dangerous crosses from Stevie Crawford and Miller.

Crawford had to be be withdrawn before the hour mark through injury and was replaced by Paul Devlin.

The Birmingham City winger immediately set up Hutchison and his quick turn and shot from 12 yards forced Stauce into a superb save.

Lithuania suffered their own injury blow when striker Jankauskas, who had been a pre-match doubt, was replaced with Arturas Fomenka.

But the home side were soon in the lead when McNamara clipped the heels of Darius Maciulevicius, another home substitute, and Razanauskas drove the penalty under Gallacher.

Bradford City forward Andy Gray was thrown on for his debut, but a Steven Pressley header that flashed just over was the closest Scotland came to salvaging a point.
