Taylor backs Cole
Carlton Cole
England Under-21 coach reckons Carlton Cole is a serious candidate to make the senior squad.

Cole, on loan at Aston Villa from Chelsea, scored England's opening goal as the Under-21s beat Austria 2-0 in a European Championship qualifier.

"He has got the potential to break into the full England squad," said Taylor.

He is still a young player but he is performing very well and looks a difficult opponent. He is incredibly strong and quick and hard working."

Taylor added: "Carlton is working incredibly hard and is playing very consistently. He took his goal tonight superbly and made other chances for us as well.

"He is in great form and benefiting from playing regularly in the Premiership and realising that for him to stay in the Aston Villa team he has got to play in a consistent way. That is what he is doing at the moment."
