Jonathan Stead's impressive start to his Blackburn career has won him a call-up to the England Under-21 squad.
Stead has two goals in two games for Blackburn
Stead joined Rovers for an initial £1m on transfer deadline day from Third Division Huddersfield and scored in both of his first two games.
He has been rewarded with a place in David Platt's squad to face Holland in Hull on Tuesday.
Stead told Blackburn's website: "A letter arrived at the training ground and it's obviously a great thrill."
He added: "All the lads are pleased for me. I'm having a good season and you always
live in the hope of these things.
"Obviously moving to Blackburn and the Premiership, plus getting a couple of
goals, has helped enormously."
There are also first call-ups for Newcastle's Steven Taylor, Leeds' Matt Kilgallon, Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing, Arsenal's Justin Hoyte and Bolton's Nicky Hunt.
Two Football League players have been summoned for the first time too in the shape of Preston keeper Andy Lonergan and Burnley striker Richard Chaplow.
Chelsea right-back Glen Johnson is relegated to the Under-21s after making his full England debut against Denmark last year.
