David Wotherspoon and Ross Forbes
Wotherspoon and Forbes have shown fine form for their clubs this season

Motherwell's Ross Forbes and Hibernian's David Wotherspoon have been handed their maiden call-ups to the Scotland Under-21 squad.

The midfielders have been rewarded for fine, early-season form and could debut in next month's Uefa Under-21 Championship qualifier with Belarus.

Forbes, 20, has scored seven goals this season and was Clydesdale Bank Young Player of the Month for August.

The 19-year-old Wotherspoon made his senior debut for Hibs this season.

He and Forbes are the only additions to the 20-man squad head coach Billy Stark named for last month's Group 10 defeat in Austria.

Scotland play Belarus at St Mirren Park on 10 October.
