Pundits on Scotland's defeat

John Arne Riise wheels away after giving Norway the lead

We made an ordinary Norway side look good. It should have been five because Norway had one that was over the line that wasn't given.

With George Burley, there have been too many negatives, too many bad decisions. I'm afraid Gordon Smith will be under pressure for bringing him into the job.

Of course, if we had won, we'd be praising him.

Now, in a section we should have been sailing in, it looks like the last two games will be for nothing.

We were only in second spot because Norway have been so poor. We had a chance to secure it and we've thrown it away.

Now there are only six points available and one of the games is against the third best team in the world.

If the SFA feel too many things have been negative, Burley could lose his job.

It's an hour and 40 minutes back on that flight from Norway. It will feel like a day.

I think we've been lucky to stay in this group. There have been mistakes and it has all caught up with George Burley. The knives will be out for him.

Before kick-off, we said, if things didn't go our way, he'd be leaving himself wide open to criticism.

George Burley will make the argument that it was the sending-off that made the difference.

There was complete disintegration and no-one played particularly well after that.

The most important moment was the sending-off and the fact that we didn't deal with John Carew. All our defenders got too tight to him all night.

We could have lost six or seven. Nothing went right for Scotland.

Nothing went right for George Burley and his picks. Even the goalkeeper, David Marshall, didn't cover himself in glory.

A lot of the decisions Burley made didn't work. The centre-half set-up? It didn't work and you are paid for your decisions.
