Danny Gabbidon will win his 41st Wales cap in Montenegro

Danny Gabbidon will enjoy a belated birthday present when he starts for Wales for the first time in almost two years in their friendly in Montenegro.

Gabbidon, who celebrated his 30th on Saturday, lines up alongside Chris Gunter, James Collins, Ashley Williams and Sam Ricketts in a five-man defence.

Captain Joe Ledley is alongside fellow youngsters Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal and West Ham's Jack Collison in midfield.

Young striker Simon Church will partner Rob Earnshaw up-front for Wales.

Wales boss John Toshack hails Gabbidon and James Collins as his defensive "nerve centre" but the centre-back pair have not played together in an international game since Wales' heroic 0-0 draw in Germany in November 2007.

Gabbidon is back in a relatively strong-looking Wales side following an injury-ravaged 18 months as he has suffered a complicated abdominal problem.

Ledley loves lead Wales role

The Cwmbran-born defender has starred for West Ham in pre-season and scored in their Asia Cup third-placed play-off win over Beijing Guoan last month.

Now he will continue his rehabilitation from his injury nightmare in Podgorica for Wales ahead of West Ham's Premier League opener with Wolves on Saturday.

Ledley will lead Wales for the third time - following back-to-back 1-0 victories overt Estonia and Azerbaijan - in the absence of regular skipper Craig Bellamy, who has a knee injury.

The Wales team to face Montenegro for the first time is fairly strong with Tottenham full-back Gareth Bale, Fulham midfielder Simon Davies, Wolves midfielder David Edwards joining Bellamy as the regular first-teamers on Toshack's injury list.

Wales team to face Montenegro:
Wayne Hennessey, Chris Gunter, James Collins, Ashley Williams, Danny Gabbidon, Sam Ricketts, Jack Collison, Joe Ledley (c), Aaron Ramsey, Simon Church, Rob Earnshaw.
Substitute: Lewis Price, Neal Eardley, Lewin Nyatanga, Craig Morgan, Owain Tudur Jones, David Cotterill, Sam Vokes
