Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington is hopeful that Jonny Evans will recover from a virus in time for Saturday's qualifier against Slovenia.

Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington says his side "will be setting out to win from minute one" in Saturday's World Cup qualifying game in Slovenia.

"We will go out all guns blazing and if we play good early football, like we did against the Czechs, create more chances and take some we'll be fine.

"I've watched Slovenia and they are no mugs but as long as we are on our game we'll be alright," said Worthington.

"We have to keep our self-belief and spirit and go out there and enjoy it."

"It's game on and we'd really like to win the game after getting just one point from our first two matches.

"The pattern of the group so far is that all the teams are capable of taking points off each other so let's hope that it's our turn to get a win on Saturday and then go on from there."

Worthington added that it was a boost to have Kyle Lafferty back in the squad after the Rangers striker missed the first two matches of the series against Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

"It is nice to have Kyle back as he gives us extra height and the rough and readiness that comes with being a big centre forward.

"Hopefully David Healy can also show some extra sharpness and weigh in with his first goal of the campaign."
