The Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Georgia on 6 September will be played in the German city of Mainz.

The Group Eight qualifier is being moved from Tbilisi to a neutral venue because of the conflict in Georgia.

The Georgian Football Federation (GFF) said on Tuesday that the game would take place at the home of Karlsruhe SC.

However, the Wildparkstadion is not available and the game will be played at FSV Mainz's Stadion am Bruchweg.

Fifa had set the Georgian federation the deadline of Tuesday to nominate a venue.

After playing the Republic, Georgia travel to Macedonia for their next qualifier on 10 September.

The Football Association of Ireland requested that the 6 September game should be moved to a neutral venue following the outbreak of hostilities in Georgia.
