Northern Ireland Under-21s lost 3-1 to Israel in their Euro 2009 qualifier at Mourneview Park on Wednesday, their second successive home defeat.

Maor Buzaglo put the visitors ahead early on with a speculative cross-shot which caught Jonathan Tuffey off guard.

Five minutes after half-time Itay Schachter beat Tuffey with an angled toe-poke at the keeper's near post.

Chris Turner scored with a low drive inside the post but Hen Azrfiel secured Israel's win with an angled drive.

The defeat sees Israel leapfrog Roy Millar's side to move second in Group 9.

Millar remains upbeat about his side's chances of qualification after wins over Moldova and Luxembourg away from home and defeats by Germany and Israel on home soil.

"We have games against Moldova and Luxembourg, which hopefully will alow us to get our challenge back on track.

"We dominated the first half and had half a dozen chances in the second but didn't take them," he said.
