Babel set the hosts on their way to victory
|
Goals from Ryan Babel and Maceo Rigters helped hosts Holland see off Portugal and secure a place in the semi-finals of the European Under-21 Championship.
Babel netted a 33rd-minute penalty after Rigters was brought down by keeper Paulo Ribeiro in the area.
Rigters hit the post before finishing neatly from Royston Drenthe's cross.
Miguel Veloso pulled one back with a fine free-kick but Portugal, who had coach Jose Couceiro sent to the stands, could not find an equaliser.
