England & Germany face friendly
Wembley Stadium
Germany will play England at Wembley this summer
England will take on Germany in a friendly at Wembley on 22 August.

The Football Association confirmed the date on the back of an announcement by the German Federation (DFB) that they were set to play at the London venue.

It will be the first meeting between the two nations since England thrashed Germany 5-1 in a World Cup qualifier in Munich in 2001.

And the match will be the last friendly before England face a run of five Euro 2008 qualifiers.

Germany were the last team to play England at the old Wembley in 2000.

The Germans won the World Cup qualifier, thanks to a Dietmar Hamann free-kick, and that result prompted Kevin Keegan to resign as manager of the England team.
