Scotland have lost to Turkey in their opening European Under-19 Championship Group 4 qualifier at Dens Park, Dundee.

The Turks won 2-1, while the other two teams in Scotland's group, Portugal and Georgia, drew 0-0 at McDiarmid Park.

Scotland scored through a flick from Reading defender Alex Pearce, but goals from Tevfik Kose and Murat Ceylan won the points for the Turks.

Archie Knox's side also suffered an injury blow, with Aberdeen forward Chris Maguire being carried off.

Scotland face Georgia at the Perth venue in their second game on Friday, while the other two play in Dundee.

The hosts are again in action at McDiarmid Park on Monday against Portugal, with Georgia and Turkey squaring up at Dens Park.
