Sir Bobby Robson is recovering from a minor operation to repair damage to a lung following a skiing accident.
The lung damage was caused by a rib injury sustained in February when the 73-year-old former England and Newcastle boss fell.
Robson, consultant to Republic of Ireland boss Steve Staunton, underwent surgery on Saturday and is expected to spend a short time recuperating.
Staunton said: "Knowing Sir Bobby he will be back fighting fit in no time."
