England were already assured of being in next month's play-offs
The England Under-21 team slipped to defeat against Austria as Marc Janko scored a second-half brace.

Carlton Cole scored England's goal, heading in a James Milner cross.

Gyorgy Garics hit the crossbar with a header for Austria on 36 minutes, while ten minutes after the restart Janko converted Zlatko Junuzovic's low cross.

With 14 minutes left Janko claimed his second with another close-range finish and Austria held on as keeper Ramazan Ozcan denied Michael Dawson late on.

England U21: Carson, Steven Taylor, Baines, Dawson, Ferdinand (Ryan Taylor 71), Huddlestone, Milner, Soares (Moore 61), Cole (Jerome 87), Thomas, Lennon.
Subs Not Used: Onuoha, Camp, Whittingham, Welsh.

Goals: Cole 18.

Austria U21: Ozcan, Sonnleitner, Mimm, Berger, Pollhuber, Metz, Idrizaj (Weisenberger 68), Garics, Junuzovic, Holzl, Janko (Mossner 90).
