Friedel applauds the USA fans at the 2002 World Cup
Blackburn keeper Brad Friedel has announced his retirement from international football with the United States of America.

The 33-year-old said: "I have decided that now is the right time to bring to a close my time representing the US.

"The Premier League is incredibly demanding and over the remaining years of my career, I want to continue to play at the highest level for my club."

Friedel had won 82 caps since making his international debut in 1992.

He was a member of the USA squad at the last three World Cups.
