Eriksson toughs it out
Sven-Goran Eriksson with Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein in Amsterdam
Eriksson (left) faces an FA inquiry next week
England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson made his first public appearance on Friday since the outset of the scandal over his affair with an FA secretary.

The Swede watched as an inexperienced Arsenal team drew 0-0 with River Plate at the Amsterdam ArenA.

He had earlier refused to speak to reporters at Schipol airport after arriving from his home in Sweden.

Eriksson has denied misleading his employers over his relationship with Faria Alam.

He watched a lacklustre match as the Gunners kept most of their big-name players on the sidelines against the Buenos Aires club.
