Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has admitted he considered his future at the club during the summer.

Drogba has scored 12 Premiership goals this season but he told Football Focus: "Every end of the season you have to think about what you have done.

"I had some teams who wanted to sign me so I had to think as I had won the league here for two consecutive years.

"I was thinking but not too much because Chelsea showed how they respect me and how they wanted me to stay."

Drogba's place seemed in jeopardy before the start of the current campaign when the Stamford Bridge club completed the signing of Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko from AC Milan.

But the Ivory Coast forward, who arrived at Chelsea in a 24m deal in July 2004 from Marseille, insisted Shevchenko's arrival did not have a bearing on his future.

"That was not about Shevchenko but was just about Chelsea and me," he added.

Drogba is carrying a knock but is set to play against Fulham on Saturday.

Chelsea skipper and central defender John Terry will again be missing and Drogba is aware of the importance of the England international returning as soon as possible.

The side have conceded six goals in there last three Premiership games and Drogba said: "There is nothing else to say.

"It is difficult to play without John. Even if Paulo Ferreira, Khalid Boulahrouz and Ricardo Carvalho are doing as well as they can John is still the boss in this team and we are waiting for him to be back quick."
