TED MacDOUGALL: 21%
Apart from the fact that he scored a ton of goals for us, it's those 9 against Margate that he's remembered for.
He was around before my time but he scored 9 against Margate at some point and has legendary status here on the south coast!!!
What more can you say about the man? He oozed goals in both spells at the club and put the club on the footballing map in the early seventies following his Cup scoring exploits against Margate. I was there that day and cannot remember anything like it since.
STEVE FLETCHER: 78%
For scoring THAT goal at Cardiff in the play-off final (I mean, Fletch scoring a goal that good - what's the world coming to?!). Proven loyalty, big heart and a Cherry through and through - love him!
He's the best, worst player in the world (if that makes sense). He's a tall centre forward, but has one of the worst strike records ever! In 390 games for Bournemouth he's scored 73 goals. That's a little more than one goal every five games. We certainly don't admire him for his strike record. It's just his presence that makes him so great. He might not be able to kick the ball straight (so many of
his goals have been shinned in), and he might have a head shaped like a 50p coin (you never know which direction it's going). But for some reason we can't win without him. He always gives 100% throughout the whole of every game. Perhaps it's his off-the-ball work that makes him so good. For some odd reason opposing defenders see him as the "big danger man" (Ha!) and so they mark him leaving our other striker to get the goals. He's 32 now, and no one knows what we'll do when he goes.
Typical English centre-forward, great in the air & strong - but most importantly leads from the front & never gives up. Bournemouth through and through.
Recently scored his 100th goal for the club and not long ago netted his first ever senior hat-trick. He has played for the club for ten years. He is club captain and shows 100% passion all the time.
SEAN O'DRISCOLL: 1%
Current manager and all-time record appearance maker. Has done every job at the club including youth team and physio and is the most loyal understated manager in the game.
Ex-player and manager. Holds record for most appearances for club. Brilliant midfield player who was like a work-horse who ran tirelessly for 90 mins. Has made the club respectable by bringing in talented young stars on loan who were on the fringes of Premiership teams, Jermain Defoe to name but one. Has worked on a shoe-string budget to make Bournemouth one of the most respected footballing teams in the lower divisions. Has worked through all ranks of the club from youth to club physio.
