Crewe's cult heroes

Seth Johnson has been voted Crewe Alexandra's all-time cult hero by Football Focus viewers.

Johnson received 59% of the vote ahead of fellow Crewe favourites Danny Murphy and Craig Hignett.

With his dedication, determination and combative style Seth was always a firm favourite at Gretsy Road. Anon.

Became a Crewe legend when he turned down a deadline day move to Derby County in March 1999. He chose to stay at Crewe and helped the club survive the drop with the important winning goal against Bristol City. Eventually moved to Derby at the end of the season for a club record fee.
Andrew Lawrence

DANNY MURPHY: 33%

Made 134 appearances for the club, scoring 27 times, before a 1.5m move to boyhood heroes Liverpool. Returned to Crewe on loan during the 98-99 season and played a major role as the Alex escaped relegation.
Steven Irving

CRAIG HIGNETT: 8%

Higgy made 150 appearances for Crewe in his first spell, scoring 57 goals. Returned on loan towards the end of the 2003/04 season. Added vast experience and width on the left to help the Alex beat the drop.
