Derby's cult heroes

This vote is now closed.

Igor Stimac has been voted Derby County's all-time cult hero by Football Focus viewers.

Stimac won with 59% of the vote, ahead of fellow Derby favourites Dean Saunders and Ted McMinn.

DEAN SAUNDERS: 11%

One of Maxwell's gifts. Pacey and passionate crowd pleaser who loved Derby and Derby loved him.
Jason Brooks

Goalscoring legend.
James Tessier

The best striker I have seen wear the black and white and had a unique way of spinning past an opponent.
David Bedlow

Just scored goal after goal after goal after goal...
Martin Watts

To vote for Dean Saunders text SAUNDERS to 81111.

IGOR STIMAC: 59%

A born leader that turned a team that was 5th from bottom of the first division and going nowhere to a team that won promotion. The man had personality and complete arrogance. When he stepped on to the pitch he did so knowing full well that he was by far the best player on it, and he was. I believe Derby could have played with one centre back that season and still would have been promoted. If a better player has played in the first division, I have yet to see him, and as such to the Derby faithful he was God. He then did it in the Premiership. A soldier in the Croatian army, therefore unlike so many so-called hardmen, he actually was and you could just see this in the opposition strikers. Not only that but he was married to an Ex-Miss Yugoslavia to boot, a right lucky begger and probably Derby County's biggest ever hero.
James Ogden

The Croatian captain joined in the 1995/96 season, scoring a debut goal in our defeat away to Tranmere. He went on to be an influential fan's favourite and a key player in our promotion campaign.
Martin Newman

Led by example on a run of 22 unbeaten games resulting in automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Martin Watts

Just seemed to have something special when he entered the pitch.
Keith Tristram

Needs no explanation!!
James Tessier

To vote for Igor Stimac text STIMAC to 81111.

TED McMINN: 30%

Not for his talent, but his cheeky impudent way of pushing a ball past a full back, running into him and getting a free-kick virtually every time. He would then wink at the crowd after doing so. A throwback to the days of characters and entertainment.
David Bedlow

Did things he wasn't capable of.
David Young

To vote for Ted McMinn text McMINN to 81111.
