Dunn amazed by Blyth cup progress

Dunn dreams of cup upset

Blyth manager Harry Dunn has said the club's success continues to shock him ahead of their FA Cup third round tie against Blackburn on Monday.

Dunn will pit himself against former Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce during the game and the former Bishop Auckland boss is excited by the opportunity.

"I've only seen people like Sam on the television," he told BBC Look North.

"I never expected to meet a Premier League manager so for me as well as the players it's going to be fantastic."

The club's FA Cup record makes impressive reading, with scalps including Wrexham, Stoke City and latterly Shrewsbury and Bournemouth taken during their history.

But Dunn appreciates the significance of welcoming Premier League opposition to Croft Park, particularly given the manner upon which the top flight has grown in the 30 years since Blyth last featured at this stage of the competition.

"A lot of the Premier League clubs don't rate the FA Cup as highly as the European trophies, but for us this is the biggest game in my career, the players' career and the club's history," he said.

"Blyth have never beaten a Premier League club or even played a Premier League club before, so there's always a first for everything."
