Sheff Wed 1-2 Fulham

Andy Johnson grabbed a dramatic winner two minutes from time as Fulham cruelly sent Championship side Sheffield Wednesday crashing out of the FA Cup.

It took Fulham 12 minutes to take the lead with Johnson slotting home after a clever through-ball from Danny Murphy.

The Owls hit back in stunning fashion with a 25-yard screamer from defender Tommy Spurr swerving away from the despairing hands of Mark Schwarzer.

Jermaine Johnson went close before the London side grabbed the headlines.

The Championship side, currently 13th in the table, may have started the game without strikers Leon Clarke and Akpo Sodje, but their attack was never short of flair with Johnson in flying form.

The midfielder went close in the opening minute but was denied with a double save from Schwarzer.

Fulham, helped by their newly-found confidence after their recent last gasp draw against Chelsea, played an open game with Johnson and Bobby Zamora linking well up front.

Murphy worked tirelessly at the heart of the Fulham defence and will be relieved with the victory after his wasteful free-kick with 10 minutes remaining.

Wednesday boss Brian Laws:
"I'm disappointed we're out of the Cup but I'm not disappointed with the performance.

"I've got to give my players some credit, especially looking at the circumstances and the team we put out.

"They went out there with confidence. We took the game to the end against a team buoyant in the Premiership."

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson:
"It was a hard-fought and a thrilling Cup-tie and all credit to Wednesday for the way they played.

"Their goalkeeper made a couple of good saves and we hit the post a couple of times but the second goal did come.

"In terms of a cup run, I would be lying if I said it was as important as survival in the Premiership."
