Jonathan Stead (right) celebrates his third goal for Ipswich
Ipswich scored three second-half goals to reach the FA Cup fourth round and finally end Chesterfield's involvement in this season's competition.
The Spireites were only playing because Droylsden fielded an inelgible player while beating them in the second round but they could find no way past Town.
Jon Walters put Ipswich ahead from the spot after Phil Picken's handball.
Three minutes later Alan Quinn set up Pablo Counago to fire home and Jon Stead's late drive sealed Town's win.
