Charlton 1-1 Norwich

Jonjo Shelvey
Jonjo Shelvey opened the scoring for Charlton with his first career goal

Championship strugglers Charlton and Norwich had to settle for a draw in Saturday's FA Cup third-round match.

Phil Parkinson's first game in charge for the Addicks began well with 16-year-old midfielder Jonjo Shelvey thumping home Hameur Bouazza's cross.

The hosts had further chances with Lloyd Sam and Deon Burton going close.

They were made to pay in the second half as substitute Arturo Lupoli fired in the equaliser following good work from the impressive Wes Hoolahan.

Norwich manager Glenn Roeder told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"I would have liked to have won the game, but to be honest, the way the game was going, that was probably the right result.

"We had to survive a few scares in the first half, when they whizzed a few balls across the face of goal that probably looked more dangerous than they were.

"But I think the lad [Shelvey] has got Premiership class stamped all over him, it was an absolutely fabulous strike, gave Marshy no chance."
