Colchester 0-1 Leyton Orient

A Jason Demetriou goal ten minutes from time booked Leyton Orient's place in the FA Cup second round at the expense of Colchester United.

Demetriou weaved his way through the home defence before placing a low shot past United keeper Mark Cousins.

Mark Yeates twice went close for the home side but Orient keeper Glenn Morris saved both curling efforts.

After the break Orient's Sean Thornton had a header saved and United's Scott Vernon squandered a gilt-edged chance.

Leyton Orient boss Martin Ling told BBC London 94.9:
"It's been difficult but the spine of the team is looking a lot stronger than it has been before.

"I can see a light at the end of the tunnel and the confidence of two back-to-back wins will be really good for us.

"We are young and have made mistakes this season but today and last week have been two good performances."
