King's Lynn 1-5 Kidderminster

FA Cup

Kidderminster Harriers are through to the FA Cup first round proper after hammering King's Lynn at the Walks.

Harriers had a 3-0 lead by half time after goals from Matt Barnes-Homer, Russell Penn and Martin Britain.

Brian Smikle made it 4-0 after the break before team-mate Luke Jones was stupidly sent off but top-scorer Justin Richards made it 5-0.

Joe Francis headed the Linnets' consolation as they suffered their third consecutive defeat at home.

King's Lynn midfielder Ben Sedgemore told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"We thought we could really create an upset today and we started as if that was going to be the case, we had one cleared off the line and their keeper made a good save.

"Credit to Kidderminster, before we knew it we were 3-0 down and chasing a game that we thought we were well in at the time.

"Scott [Howie], who's been excellent for us in recent weeks, never really had an opportunity to make a save on any of the five."

Kidderminster Harriers' midfielder Andy Ferrell told BBC Hereford & Worcester:

"To be fair to them, they tried to play in the right way and we gave them enough respect.

"It was a potential banana skin and we didn't want to be the team that got beaten.

"It would be nice to get one of the big boys like Leeds or Leicester in the next round.

"But if we can get a decent game that we think we have got a chance of winning, then hopefully we can progress into the second round."
