League Two strugglers Bury upset Norwich in their FA Cup third round replay at Gigg Lane to set up a fourth round encounter away at Southampton.

Defender Ben Futcher gave the home side the lead on 18 minutes, side-footing home following a defensive mix-up.

Andy Bishop then made it 2-0 after 60 minutes when he converted Nicky Adams's searching cross.

Dion Dublin gave Norwich hope with a close-range effort on 85 minutes but Bury were good value for their win.

The home side had the first chance of the match in the 17th minute when Bishop volleyed over the crossbar from a searching left-wing cross by Adams.

Less than a minute later Bury were ahead, central defender Futcher sweeping home from six yards after Norwich keeper David Marshall was unable to cope with a deep cross from David Buchanan.

Shortly before the half-hour mark it should have been 2-0 when Bishop hesitated in front of goal and was dispossessed before he could get a shot away.

Bury almost scored again on 38 minutes, Bishop whipping in a cross from the right and Richie Baker just failing to get on the end if it.

Jason Shackell should have equalised on 56 minutes but headed Mark Fotheringham's free-kick straight at Bury keeper Jim Provett from 10 yards out.

Bury took a deserved two-goal lead on 60 minutes, Bishop sliding in to convert another probing cross from Adams.

Futcher had what would have been a second goal disallowed for offside after 74 minutes when he slid home Baker's fizzing free-kick.

Lee Croft hit a post for Norwich on 85 minutes before Dublin pounced on Jamie Cureton's header back across goal to make it 2-1 with five minutes remaining.

Deep in injury-time Gary Doherty should have taken the game to extra-time but was unable to get anything on a Croft cross.

But the Shakers, in caretaker manager Chris Brass' first game in charge, had enough about them to hold out for the win and ensure an attractive fourth round tie on the south coast.

The result is a big blow to Canaries boss Glenn Roeder, whose side are currently languishing in 18th place in the Championship.
