Foster leads way

A few eyebrows were raised when Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd tipped Ben Foster to become "the world's number one goalkeeper" after the Hornets' FA Cup win at Plymouth.

But his bold claim has been supported by users of BBC Sport's Player Rater.

Foster's fine display in Watford's 1-0 victory saw his rating soar to 8.85 by 0800 GMT on Monday - the highest score of any player in Sunday's three Cup quarter-finals.

With voting still open until 1500 GMT on Monday, Foster could yet reach the magic 9.00.

Player Rater also highlights how the Pilgrims pressured their Premiership opponents in their Cup tie.

Watford defender Dan Shittu rated 7.89, while Plymouth's Scott Sinclair was at 7.50.

As of 0800 GMT, the only player to join Foster in breaking eight out of 10 is Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgarian hitman found the net early on in Spurs' thrilling 3-3 draw with Chelsea - and he impressed users who rated him at 8.58 by 0800 GMT.

Chelsea made less of an impact - with Paulo Ferreira, Michael Essien, Ashley Cole and Lassana Diarra all failing to reach five out of 10.

Manchester City players have fared similarly badly, with Sylvain Distin, Sun Jihai, Dietmar Hamann and Bernardo Corradi also ranked below five.

But with Player Rater voting still open until Monday afternoon, the scores could yet change.
